The charts illustrates the sources of crude oil imports to the United States in 2012 and show how the imports are averaged between 2015 and 2012.

In 2012, local production was considerably large taking up to 39% .Canada was the second largest supplier contributing to 24% imports . The Middle East provided 17% followed by 8% Africa and 9% Latin America. Oil from orther nations made up the smallest proportions, at just 3%.
Regarding the second chart, imports represented approximately 60% of the US crude oil consumption in 2005, and remianed the same in 2006. However, this figure gradually gradually decreased across the follwing years. By 2009, the imports accounted for just over 50%, and the downward trend continued, reaching 40% in 2012.
In conclusion, although the imports were the significant source of US curde oil, their importance dimished over time, with the increase on domestic production
