Band 6: The charts below give information about the price of tickets on one airline between Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, over a two-week period in 2013. (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 1 Sample)

The given bar charts compare the cost of airline tickets between Sydney and Melbourne in Australia over 2 weeks in 2013.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is evident that the fluctuation of ticket price was similar in either direction in both weeks . Noticeably, the flight tickets tended to be more expensive from Friday to Monday and the lowest from Tuesday to Thursday.

Regarding the price for the flight from Sydney to Melbourne, passengers had to pay 80$ on Monday in the first week, which was the highest price over the period. However, this figure dropped to 45$ on the next 2 days before rising drastically to 75$ on Friday and dropping to 50$ on Sunday. In the second week, the price of tickets followed a similar pattern, with an exception of that on Monday (50$).

In terms of the cost of airline tickets from Melbourne to Sydney, starting at 60$ on Monday in the first week, the figure nearly halved and levelled out at 35$ from Tuesday to Thursday. The ticket price reached a peak of 80$ on Friday, before decreasing by 20$ on Saturday and ending at 50$ on Sunday. In the following week, the cost of flight tickets were largely similar, except for the reduction on Monday, Friday, and Saturday to 40$, 60$, and 50$ respectively.
