The given charts show the percentage of different waste that were disposed in a country in 1960 and 2011
Overall, the trend in disposing waste diverged, with the increasing proportion of most types of wastes at the expense of some that stayed unchanged or decreased.
Looking at the first pie in more detail, in 1960, the largest contribution was paper with 25%; while the smallest one was wood with just nearly 5%. Moreover, the percentage of disposed metal and disposed plastic were similar, exactly 8%. The same situation happened to food and other types of waste that their proportion were equal, about 12%.
Turning to the pie in 2011, corresponding with the decreasing of paper to only 15% was the significant rise of food. After this rise, the percentage of food that was disposed replaced that of paper and became the leader of this chart with over 20%. Another waste that witnessed remarkable increase was plastic, from 8% to exactly 18%. Additionally, the figure of green waste and glass stayed unchanged at 9% and 5%.
