The chart illustrates water consumption by several sectors in Australia in 2004 and the proportion of residential water utilized for four different purposes in the same year.
Overall, it is clear that, the majority percentage of water was consumed by households, while other categories such as industrial, business, government and others accounted smaller proportions. Residential area makes of use water mostly for gardening and bathroom.
More specifically, 70% of total water consumption was used for residential area, industrial and business ware accounted with respective figures 11% and 10%. Turning to the remaining figures, while the government utilized 6% percent of water, which is more than double figure for others (3%).
Regarding household water use, the largest proportion of total water was used for garden (28%), the bathroom accounted the second largest share(27%), with only 1% less from garden. The smallest indicator was kitchen with only 10%. The remaining two figures, like toilet and washing clothes ware utilized of water 15% and 20% respectively.
