The pie graphs show us how the teenagers in this country spent their spare time from 2009 to 2019. Overall, it is evident that significant shifts occurred in the preferences of teenagers avoiding the leisure activities over the decade, particularly preferring television and internet usage.
In 2009, the most popular activity among teenagers was listening to music, which accounted for 24% of their free time. This was closely followed by participating in sports at 21% and watching television, which represented 19% of their leisure activities. Other activities included cooking and walking, comprising 16% and 8%, respectively. Notably, internet usage was the least favored, attracting merely 12% of the teenagers’ time.
By 2019, a marked increase in television viewing was observed, soaring to 38%, making it the predominant activity for teenagers. In contrast, there was a slight rise in sports participation, which increased to 22%. However, a decline was seen in music, which fell to 18%, alongside cooking, which diminished to 11%. Internet use saw a significant drop to just 3%, while walking remained stable at 8%, indicating a relative constancy in this particular activity despite changes in other areas.
