The pie chart displays the local government expenditure falling into nine distinct groups in 2010 and 2015. Overall, while welfare and interest on borrowing both experienced a decrease in spending. Focusing on the increases first, welfare figures rose from 8% in 2010 to 13%. However, the interest on borrowing proportion increased significantly by 5 percentage points and made up 10% in 2015 compared to 5% in 2010.
The proportion of defence spending dropped from 17% to just 13%. After that, education figure also declined slightly by 3 percent points, at 21 % in 2015. Another two spendings include transport, culture and leisure were the least proportion in 2015, at 1 per cent.
Finally, the pension and other spendings only remained stable, just 19 % over the five period years.
