Overall, education and healthcare took the largest proportions in both years, while culture and leisure and transport accounted for the smallest shares. There were some changes in spending over the five-year period.
In 2010, education was the biggest expense at 24%, followed by healthcare at 21%. Pensions made up 19%, and defence accounted for 17%. Welfare spending was 8%, while interest on borrowing was 5%. Transport and culture and leisure were relatively low, at 3% and 2% respectively, and other spending was only 1%.
In 2015, education spending slightly decreased to 21%, and healthcare also fell to 20%. Pension spending remained the same at 19%. Defence dropped to 14%. However, welfare increased to 13%, and interest to borrowing doulbled to 10%.
In conclusion, the goverment redued spending on education, healthcare and defence, while increasing the budget for welfare and interest on borrowimg.
