The charts show what UK graduate and postgraduate students did after leaving college in 2008, not including those who went into full-time work.
Overall, the most popular choice for both graduates and postgraduates was further study, while voluntary work was the least common option. Also, there were much more graduates than postgraduates in every category.
For graduates, around 29,665 students continued their education by doing further study. This was the highest number among all destinations. Part-time work was the second most common choice with 17,735 students. The number of unemployed graduates was slightly lower at 16,235. In contrast, only 3,500 graduates did voluntary work, which was the lowest figure in the chart.
A similar pattern can be seen for postgraduates. About 2,725 postgraduates went on to further study, while 2,535 chose part-time work. The number of unemployed postgraduates was 1,625, which was lower than the other two categories. Voluntary work was again the least popular option, with only 345 students choosing it.
In conclusion, both graduates and postgraduates followed similar trends after leaving college, with further study being the most preferred option and voluntary work attracting the smallest number of students.
