The given pie charts compared the average percentage of some components, such as sodium, saturated fat and added sugar put in some daily meals like snack, breakfast, lunch and dinner in American’s meals.
In general, main meals of the day were all contained all three substances, but there was some different between these ingredients. Snack was processed primarily by added sugar, while sodium was added mainly in lunch and dinner. Besides, three types of these nutrients were all seen in breakfast.
Looking more closely in the picture, one can see that American all consumed quite many foods that contained those nutrients. Snack seemed to be full of added sugar, about 42%, saturated fat and sodium accounted for 21% and 14% repetitively in this kind of food. In breakfast, residents in USA used foods contained these three substances, both saturated fat and added sugar accounted for 16% and sodium accounted for 14%. Next to lunch, they ate meals that processed by sodium mainly, about 29%, followed by saturated fat with 26% and added sugar with 19%. Sodium was added in dinner quite a lot, up to 43%, saturated fat also accounted for 37% and sugar was added by only 23%.
In conclusion, although these nutrients were necessary for American’s meals, it might be unhealthy if they consumed a lot.
