It is evident that the involvement of women in household tasks except for repair was more frequent than men while overall, men spent more time on leisure activities .Furthermore, watching TV ,video and listening to the radio along with cooking and washing were the most popular pastime and housework at that time.
Looking at the details in the table chart, in 2008, it can be seen that the total daily volume of time UK males attached to TV, video, radio and sport was 152 minutes,compared with the equivalent figure for women, at 129 minutes.Meanwhile,the engagement of women in reading was 19 minutes a day, slight higher than that of men in this pastime.
In terms of household chores, the most noticeable feature is that females did the cooking and washing nearly 80 minutes per day on average which roughly tripled the amount of time their male counterparts allocated for this task.Shopping,clothes washing and ironing also saw the dominance of women who perform these chores approximately 60 minutes per day whilst men merely spent 40 minutes on them.In contrast, men were more involved in repairing than women with about 20 minutes spent on it daily.
