The charts under examination explain how fish were sold in the period 1950-1985. They are divided in 5 main areas: fresh fish, cured fish, animal meal, frozen fish and canned fish. With the passing of years people’s needs are changed and this transformed the customer demands.
Firstly, we can notice the difference in the volume of sales: they grew more than 200%. This is probably caused by the high development in science and mechanic which gives a better equipment to fishermen. Another important factor to mention is the plummet of request of fresh fish, from 50% to 20%: the reason is probably the intensive farming of the animals, which take to a minor supplies of fresh fish. Other relevant changes are in animal meal, frozen and canned fish: they grew respectively of 22%, 12% and 16%. Frozen fish developed because of the ever growing production of freezers, that reaches the goal of perfectly frozen food.
This graphs well explains how people’s needs changed during the 35 years under consideration, conjugating it to science and mechanic studies and researches.
