The pie charts illustrate how the world’s water is distributed, whereas the bar chart displays the proportion of water consumption in Egypt, Saudi-Arabia and Canada by aggriculture, domestic use and industry.
Overall, salt water makes up a significant portion of water of the world. According to the bar chart, the vast majority of water is used by aggriculture in the arabian countries, whilst in Canada industry requires the most water.
Salt water with its portion of 97% of the total is the most dominant. The majority (79%) of the rest 3% (wich is fresh water) can be found in glaciers and in the form of ice, while ground water and surface water take up only 20% and 1%, respectively.
It is clear, that in Egypt and Saudi-Arabia aggriculture uses an overwhelming amount of water, approximately 80% of the total water consumption, leaving just around above 10% and little below 10% for domestic use and industry, respectively. On the other hand, the distribution of the water consumption is the total opposite of this in Canada, where industry takes 80% of the water and both citizens and aggriculture has only around 10% share.
