The chart above is used to explain the main reasons for study among students of different age groups. The data collected shows a pattern where the age of the students influenced their reason for studying.
The chart divides the students to five different groups based on age. In the first group, consistsed of students below 26 years old, 80% of the students choose career as their motivation of studying (first reason). Only 10% of them choose interest as the reason for their study (second reason). In the second group, consisted of students aged 26 to 29 years old, the percentages changed to 70% and 15%, showing the raise of fulfilling interests as a reason for studying. The trend is consistent in the third group, which consisted of students aged 30 to 39 years old. In this group, students who chose the first reason declined to below 60% and students who chose the second reason increased to 25%. Interestingly, both reasons receive the same number in the fourth group, consisted of students aged 40 to 49 years old, which was 40%. In the fifth group, however, the data shows a striking difference, where less than 20% of them chose the first reason and 70% of them prefered the second reason. This group is consisted of students aged over 49 years old.
From the chart, we can see a clear contradict, where younger students tend to study for career and the older student group study to fulfill their interests.
