It can be clearly seen there was a upgoing trend until 1990 at nearly 11 million, then it saw slightly decrease to around 10 and a half million. After 1991, the trend started to climb which touched the peak at almost 16 million in 1995.
On the other hand, between 1985 and 1994 in Australia has only 6% approximately in Japanese tourism market which peaked in 1993. In 1985, Australia is not a popular destination for Japanese, only 2% of people preferred to go to Australia. Between 1985 and 1988, it saw a rapid rise which reached 2% to almost 5%. After a year, the trend dropped almost 1%. Then, it climbed dramatically to their top percentage. Exact 6% of Japanese travelled to Australia in 1994.
