The graphs illustrate the amount of marriages and divorces in the USA from 1930 to 2010.
Overall, it is clear that both charts were fluctuating through the time period of 80 years. Another similarity is that the most popular years for getting married and divorcing were 2000 and 2010.
The lowest trend of marriages was in 1930, in the beggining of the chart, with just above one million. Thus, there was a significant increase to nearly 2.5 millions, and then this number decreased dramatically. After these fluctuations, in 1980 the amount of marriages became just above one millon again. Finally, the number of newlyweds rose dramatically from just below 2 millions in 1980 to more than 3.5 millions in 2010.
In comparison, the overall trend in the second illustration has a significantly smaller number of couples than the first chart. There were some fluctuations, but then there also was a fall in 1980 with around 270 thousands of divorces. At the end of the graph, the chart peaked at 1100 thousands of divorces in 2010 and had the same timeline as marriages.
