The bar chart illustrates the number of travelers to Australia from three countries from 1995 to 2005. They are: the UK, the US, and Japan. At the same time, the line chart represents the travel types. It includes: staying at resorts and backpacking.
In 1995, the number of American tourists was the lowest of the three, at only 500 thousand people. A little higher than that is 750 is the number of British travelers. Japan held the first place for the highest number of people to Australia, at 1 million 500 people respectively. On the other hand, the number of UK and US tourists traveling to Australia in 2005 experienced a rise. While UK tourists became twice as many, Australia now welcomed 1 million more US citizens. At the same time, Japanese tourists have dropped to a lower amount, at roughly 1 million people.
The number of people staying at resorts was a humble amount, lower than 500 thousand visitors. In the meantime, people who traveled via backpacking were higher than that, more than 1 million 500 visitors. After that, in 2000, both groups underwent an elevation. The number of backpacking tourists increased by 1 million people, reaching just under 2 million 500 people. During that time, the number of travelers staying at resorts rose to about 750 thousand. After both groups hit their peak in 2000, in 2005, the backpacking group experienced a significant drop, while the resort-staying group continued to rise. Surprisingly, this year, the number of tourists staying at resorts as well as backpacking reached the same number, at just over 1 million visitors.
