The given bar chart compared the number of tourists to Australia from three different countries: UK, US, and Japan between 1985 and 2005, while the given line graph illustrated the changes of types of travels over the same period.
Overall, in 2005, the figure of UK and US underwent a dramatic increase, whereas that of Japan recorded a contrast trend. Additionally, over the period of 10 years, the number of visitors staying at resorts increased and decreased considerably, while backpacking increased steadily.
In the former year, Japan’s figure stood at 1,500,000 people, the highest number among all countries, although it declined to 1,000,000 in 2005, recording the lowest number. Travelling to Australia seemed to be not as popular among UK and US, 500,000 and 800,000 respectively. However, both of them increased significantly to 1,500,000 units in the latter year.
Looking more closely to the line graph, the number of staying at resorts reached at over 1,500,000 in 1995, before peaking at over 2,500,000 visitors in 2000 and undergoing a dramatic decrease to over 1,000,000 in 2005. In contrast, the figure of tourists who preferred backpacking increased gradually from about 400,000 to 1,000,000 people.
