The diagrams show the proportion of students taking various courses at an adult education academy recorded in 1985 and the present.
Overall, it is clear that the most popular courses in 1985 were modern languages, which were surpassed by the population of IT courses at present. In addition, enrollment in IT and cooking witnessed upward trends. In contrast, the percentage of students engaged in art, modern languages, and music appreciation can be shown declining over the period.
Regarding the share of students participating in courses recorded in 1985, nearly a quarter of the students were taking part in learning modern languages, which included French, German and Spanish. Followed closely was the fitness and dance section at 22% of the total participation. Art classes attract 17% of the students at the time, which is slightly higher than that of local history and cookery, at 15% and 14%, respectively. Only 8% of the total students were interested in music appreciation, making it the least favourite course.
At present, modern languages and art have seen a small decline in enrollment, with their proportions falling to 17% and 15%, respectively. In contrast, IT – a new addition to the curriculum, attracted 27% of the total participation, making it the most popular course this year. Similarly, the share of students interested in cookery classes grew slightly to 19% in the current year. Moreover, the percentage of students enrolling in fitness and dance remains unchanged at 22%, and music appreciation is no longer taught in this education centre.
