Overall, work occupied the majority of their day, compared to other activities. Notably, the allocation of time for work-related activities and recreational activities in 2008 was higher than in 1958, while time spent on sleeping and family was reduced over the same period.
In 1958, the rate of time allocated to sleeping was approximately 32%, less than the 33% devoted to working. Meanwhile, other categories, such as the relaxation, the travelling, going out with friends and other hobbies accounted for 8%, 2%, 19% and 6%.
In 2008, the time dedicated to working had significantly increased to 42%, whereas the time spent sleeping declined to 25%. In contrast, the time spent on socializing outside the home decreased three times opposed to in 1958. Furthermore, relaxing and travel to work significantly rosed by the quantity of 5% and 6%. Additionally, the other spare-time activities remained constant at 6% in both years.
