The data illustrate the proportion of water utilized for various reasons in six distinct parts of the globe.
Overall, Agricultural use remains dominant across African and Asian regions while North America and Europe spend around 40 percent on their Agriculture. South America also spends close to 75 percent on Agriculture. Water is used least domestically across all the regions.
In Asia and Africa, water is widely used for Agriculture. Central Asia uses 88 percent of their water for Agriculture, South East Asia 81 and Africa 84 percent. Both the Asian regions spend just 7 percent domestically while Africa spends 9 percent. In the industries each region Africa, Central and South East Asia spend 7, 5 and 12 percent respectively.
In American and Europ regions, South America is the only area which spends more than 50 percent of their water on agricultural development (around 71 percent). In the meanwhile, North America spends 39 and Europe spends 32 percent in Agriculture. Both North America and Europe spend close to 50 percent in their industries (48 and 53 percenet respectively). South America spends the least in their industries with just 10 percent. All three regions (North, South America and Europe) use less than 20 percent of their water domestically with North America using 13 percent, South America 19 and Europe 15 percent.
