The given bar charts illustrate what percentage of laborers in the three main sectors of agriculture, industry, and services across Germany, the USA, Japan, and China from 1980 to 2010.
Overall, there is a trend of steady decline in agriculture and services in all four countries. In contrast, the industrial areas all have a rapid growth in percentage except China.
In the year 1980, China held the largest percentage of workers in agriculture, at 70%, compared to other countries with about 10% or less. Meanwhile, Germany was standing in first place in the percentage of laborers in industry and services consisting of 60% and 50% workers respectively.
The year 2010 witnessed a leap in industrial areas with the most noticeable being Germany and Japan in which the former was above 80% and the latter was approximately 80% in manpower. In contrast, China’s proportion of labor in industry was static for 30 years from 1980. In addition, the workforce of China in services witnessed a fall in percentage making it the lowest bar in the chart and equal to about half of Germany’s workers in the same area.
