The pie charts compare four different types of residences in terms of their proportions of travelers between 1988 and 2008.
Overall, it is clear that the percentage of rented apartment and hotels experienced varying levels of increase, while the figures for staying with family and camping slightly declined over two decades. It is also worth noting that in 1988, staying with family had the highest share and it maintained this position untill 2008.
Looking at the data for 1988, staying with family accounted for 52% of tourists, which was by far the highest among the four accommodation types. Camping ranked second, at 26% in that same year. By contrast, the figures for rented apartments and hotels were relatively lower, at 7% and 15% respectively.
Over the following decades, there were notable shifts in the percentage of housing types. To be precise, the figures for rented apartment and hotels rose significantly, reaching a peak of 22% in different years. Unlike these two categories, the percentage of staying with family and camping experienced downward trends, with the former falling by 8% and the latter by 4% over the period. Nevertheless, staying with family retained its highest position among the four types of lodgings, despite a slight decline.
