The given pie charts illustrate the change of percentage of the energy generated from various sources in a particular country from 1985 to 2003. It is noticeable from the charts that oil was the single most important source energy over the given period of 18 years.
In 1985, oil took the major stake with the contribution of more than half of total energy production followed by nuclear energy sources (22%) and natural gas (13%). Hydrogen contributed a small portion of 4% whereas, coal produced as much as double than it.
After about 2 decades, in 2003, scenarios changed a lot where coal, natural gas and other miscellaneous renewable energy sources escalated their individual stake by 10%, 5% and 3% respectively. Interestingly, use of hydrogen remained stable while nuclear energy use got declined by 5% over that period. Though oil hold its position as dominant source of energy, its percentage dropped by at least 13%.
Overall, natural gas, coal and other green energy sources got more attention and nuclear & oil lost their use case as a source of energy generation over the span of 18 years.
