The pie charts show the percentage of British students at one university in England who were able to speak another language in addition to English, in 2000 and 2010.
In 2000, 30% of British students were able to speak Spanish only, while 15% were able to speak French only, and that was the same proportion of the students that were unable to speak any other language than English.
By comparison we can see that the most students were able to speak Spanish only in both 2000 and 2010, but the proportion increased by 5% in 2010.
On the other hand, we can see that the number of students who can speak more than two languages increased in 10 years, while the percentage of non-language speakers decreased by 10% of the total number.
We can see that the proportion of German speakers was stable at 10% in 2000 and 2010, and the diversity of one-language increased from 15% to 20% in 10 years .
