Overall, percentages of released films in the drama, comedy, and fantasy genres experienced an increased over time, while the romance genre remained unchanged. In contrast, the proportion of sold tickets had a small growth in the three genres, except the romance genre.
Both the drama and the comedy had a increased in the both charts , but the percentage of film released was much higher than the percentage of ticket sales, in 1996 and 2000. In 1996, the percentages of released drama and comedy movies was around 25% and 20%, respectively. It stood at 35% in the drama and 25% in the comedy, in 2000. Compared with the percentage of drama and comedy ticket sales slightly changed from approximately 15% to around 18% in the drama, and in the comedy it surged from 20% to nearly 20%.
It is clearly seen that the percentage of sold tickets in the genre of fantasy climbed from almost 3% to around 8%, while the romance genre dropped from 5% to just over 2%, between 1996 and 2000. Meanwhile, the percentage of films released in the romance genre remained stable at 5%, whereas the fantasy grew from 10% to 15%.
