The pie charts illustrate changes in expenditures on various sectors in US between 1966 and 1996.
Overall, while in the beginning of the period citizens in US spent most on food, at the end of the period cars sector had major portion of expenditures.
In 1966, more than two fifth of total spendings allocated to food, however in next 30 years the figure experienced a sharp decline of 30%. Cars sector’s proportion had nearly half of all expenditures in 1996, increasing from 23% in 1966. Only 7% of spendings accounted for restaurants in the beginning of the period, though the figure had two fold increase in the following years.
Meanwhile, the proportion of books expenditure significantly decreased from 6% to only 1%, becoming the smallest figure in 1996. In contrast, computers sectors’ figure underwent a notable growth from 1% to 10%. There were not remarkable changes in petrol and furniture sectors, which’s figures fluctuated between 10% and 8% in both periods.
