The pie charts provide information on spending patterns of United States from the year 1966 to 1996. Overall, in the beginning, spending on food accounted for the largest share, in contrast to computers. However, in the next year, the spending amount for cars exceeded and took the leading position.
According to the chart, in 1966, the citizens of the US spent their money on food which accounted for 44 per cent, and car expenditure had 23 per cent of the expenses. Additionally, restaurants, petrol, books and furniture had almost the same percentages ranging from 6% to 10%, while the least spending was on computers which was 1%.
In 1996, car spending increased significantly to 45%. Similarly, computers and restaurants rose to 9% and to 14% which was higher than other factors. By contrast, furniture and petrol witnessed a slight decline by 1-2%, while books declined radically from 6% to 1% as the least spending in 1996.
