The pie charts compare several methods employed by international students to book online English courses in three different nations in 2009 and 2010.
Overall, while the figures for Australia and Canada experienced some notable modifications in the methods of booking online English courses by overseas students, that for the USA stayed almost the same.
In Australia, pre-booking with an agent was the most frequent method, however internet booking surpassed it in 2010. The rate of pre-booked with agent method declined dramatically from 27% to 11% during the period, while the reverse was true for internet booking, which increased from 24% to 39%. There was a slight reduction from 23% to 20% in the share of unspecified methods. A negligible rise by 4 percentage points (from 26% to 30%) was shown by the total for the arrival method.
Regarding the USA, internet and unspecified methods accounted for a larger proportion in 2009. The percentages for internet and unspecified methods were 26%, which decreased by 3 and 1 percentage points, respectively. While the proportion for the arrival method remained unchanged (24%), there was a slight increase from 24% to 28% in the data for the method of pre-booked with agent.
As for Canada, the most preferable option was the arrival method, whereas the least preferable was the unspecified method. A dramatic drop from 45% to 26% was witnessed by the figure for the arrival method. Notably, there was a considerable rise from 22% to 35% in the percentage of pre-booked with agent method. The rate for Internet booking decreased slightly from 27% to 25%. Lastly, the level of the unspecified methods tripled during the year, from 6% to 18%.
