The ways of booking English courses used by the foreign students in three different countries – Australia, the USA, and Canada – in 2009 and 2010 is represented in the pie charts.
Overall, the ways of booking English courses had completely changed in Australia and Canada, while the USA had experienced smaller changes by 2010.
In 2009, the largest proportion of students in Australia pre-booked courses with agent, at 27%, while the figure for the USA showed 26%, which was lower by 1 % than that of in Canada. While the most students in the USA used internet (26%) and other ways (26%) of booking the course in 2009, the figures for the Australia and Canada accounted for 24% and 23% and 27% and 6% respectively. The largest proportion of students who booked the course at arrival came to the Canadas share in 2009 whereas only 24 and 26% of students in the USA and Australia utilized that method.
By 2010, the most students’ proportion had been overtaken from the method of pre-booking with agent by the internet in Australia; however, the USA and Canada showed 25% in each in that category. While using internet during the course booking had seen a decline to 11% in Australia, figures for the USA and Canada had increased to 28% and 35%. The rates for booking in arrival accounted for 30% in Australia, which was higher by 6% than that of in the USA while Canada’s proportion composed 26%. In terms of pre-booking with agent, the largest indicator was in Canadian students in 2010, at about 35%, which was higher by 24% that that of in Australia. In contrast, the figure for the USA was 28%, the most used method in 2010.
