Overall, water use increased in all sectors. It is noticeable that using water for agricultural purposes was always the main feature with an astonishing rise during the given period. In Brazil, a per capita water consumption is way higher than in Congo. Also, they have same differences in the number of population and irrigated territory.
On the outset, almost 500 km³ of water was used in agricultural sector. This number increased significantly, reaching 3000 km³ in 2000. In 1900, industrial and domestic use of water had had almost the same level, under 10 km³ approximately. Til the 1950, these two categories had relatively the same level, before water use for industrial goals started increasing slightly faster. It reached just above 1000 km³ of water use in 2000, whereas in this year for domestic purposes was used only 300 km³ approximately.
Brazil has a large population with 176 million of people. Therefore, water consumption for per person is 359 m³, while Congo has only 5.2 million population and 8 m³ average water consuming for each person. These two countries also have a significant difference related to the irrigated land. Congo has only 100 km³ while Brazil has 26 500 km³.
