Overall, men spent more time on leisure activities, particularly watching TV, videos, and listening to the radio, whereas women devoted considerably more time to household chores. Cooking and washing accounted for the largest proportion of women’s household activities, while repairs were the only task on which men spent more time.
Regarding leisure activities, watching TV, videos, and listening to the radio occupied the greatest amount of time for both genders, at 137 minutes for men and 118 minutes for women. Reading accounted for almost the same amount of time, with men spending 18 minutes and women 19 minutes per day. Similarly, men spent slightly more time doing sports, at 15 minutes daily, compared with 11 minutes for women.
In terms of household chores, women spent far more time on cooking and washing than men, at approximately 75 minutes and 30 minutes respectively. Shopping was the second most time-consuming activity for women, taking around 35 minutes per day, while men spent about 25 minutes on this task. Likewise, women devoted roughly 30 minutes to clothes washing and ironing, compared with only 10 minutes for men. By contrast, repairs were the only household activity where men spent more time, at nearly 20 minutes per day, whereas women spent around 10 minutes.
