The table and line graphs compare the household chores and entertainment activities of both men and women. The data is measured in average minutes per day.
Generally, men and women preferred laidback activities to spend most of their time on, such as watching TV and video and listening to radio, whereas they tended to do less sports. Meanwhile, while most chores consumed women’s time, men’s time was spent on repairs.
With regard to leisure activities, both sexes, at 137 min. for men and 118 min. allocated their time on TV, video, and radio. Reading and sport had only minor differences in time consumption. For reading, men spent 18 min doing this activity, while only a difference of 1 min. for women. Doing sports, on the other hand, was mostly preferred by men at 15 min and 11 min. for women.
Household chores took significant time from women. They spent 80 min. in cooking and washing, and these only consumed about 25 mins. of men’s time. This is then followed by shopping at approximately 30 mins and washing and ironing clothes at 25 mins of women’s time. Men only spent around 20 minutes and 15 minutes doing these, respectively. However, men used most of their time on repairs, which is close to 19 min., while women used around 10 mins of their time on this.
