The first bar chart depicts the figure for male and female with driving license from 1976 to 2006, while the second one illustrates the proportion of both categories aged 17-20 years in the years 1996 and 2006 in particular European country. Overall, the former chart, the proportion for driving licenses in both genders underwent an upward trend, with that of male figures dominating in all years. The latter chart, the percentage of the young men and women drivers higher in 1996.
Focusing on the percentage of male categories who have driving license remained stable in the first two years; however, that of females increased from 30% to 35%. Next decade, the proportion of male driving license inclined slightly by 8% whereas the figure for females’ rose by 15%. In the last two years, the gap between them reduced by 20% with the index of male driving license at 80% and females at 60%.
When it comes to young drivers in both genders. The percentage of young men drivers started to decrease between fifth and approximately 45% in 1996 and 2006. In addition, the proportion of young women owning cars made up 30% initially. By 2006, it declined steadily to 20%.
