Overall, while energy and agriculture are predicted to witness declines in their proportions, other sectors are predicted to increase by varying degrees. It is also noteworthy that despite fluctuations across all sectors, services will still be responsible for the majority of global production.
During the period from 2030 to 2050, manufacturing is predicted to experience an upward trend, climbing from 30.6% to 33.1%, which will represent the most significant growth across six sectors. Also being projected to increase, but to a lesser extent, services is expected to increase, with a jump of 1% in that period (from 50.2% in 2030 to 51.2% in 2050).
In terms of categories with slight increases in their figures, the proportion of materials’ production is estimated to make up 3.5% in 2050, which is a marginal rise from 2.9% in 2030. By comparison, info-com tech is anticipated to account for 5.6% in 2030, and by 2050, it is expected that its figure will have gone up to 5.9%.
Turning to the sectors that are forecast to experience downward trends, the projected proportion of energy will be 4.3% in 2050, remaining only two-thirds of its figure in 2030(6.7%). And also during this period, agriculture is anticipated to undergo a steep decline, remaining only a half of its initial figure, from 4% to 2% in 2030 and 2050, respectively, which will have the least production of all the sectors.
