The pie chart displays the main modes of transportation for students and workers in 2004 and 2009 in the UK.
On average for both years, the bus was the most frequently chosen method for going to work and study, with the car following right after it. Train, walking, and bicycle remained unpopular choices throughout the years.
In 2004, more than half of the people in this category went by car. However, it went down to 28% after 5 years. Vice versa, 33% of the people used the bus as a means of transportation in 2004, and it went up to 46% after half a decade. The three least popular choices for transportation combined usually had about 2 to 3 times less percentage than the most picked transport.
Train had always been the least favored option in both years, being 3% and 4% in their respective years. Another alternative that is more popular is walking; despite that, only 4% and 6% of the mentioned population used it in 2004 and 2009. Lastly, 9% used a bicycle in 2004, but it almost doubled in 2009.
