The pie chart compares the changes in percentages of five means of transport used to commute to a particular college between 2004 and 2009.
In general, the percentage of transport used to visit this university increased to varying extents over the given period, except for cars. Considerably, while cars were the most favorable transportation in 2004, they were overtaken by buses in 2009.
Looking first at the two transports being the most common methods for travelers arriving at a specific university, cars recorded the biggest percentage in 2004, 51%, which nearly doubled that rate in 2009, with only 28%. Due to this decrease, cars transitioned from the first position to the second in terms of usage rates. An opposite trend was witnessed in buses. Commencing at only 33% in the beginning, the traveling rate of buses rose by 13%, pushing them to the most popular transport in 2009.
Moving on to the remaining means of transport, with all of them experiencing an upward trend.
Firstly, the bicycle usage rate rose slightly from 9% to 16%, remaining in the third rank. Train and walking also witnessed a similar trend, but to a lesser extent. The percentages for these transports showed a growth of 1% and 2%, respectively in 2004 and 2009. Despite this minor rise, those were maintained two most unpopular means for travelers to this college.
