The illustration shows the process through which olive oil is produced.
Overall, the procedure consists of seven consecutive steps, starting with the harvest of olives, followed by the initial preparation, and culminating in olive oil. Notably, the process involves both human intervention and machine use.
To begin with, the farmer manually collects ripe olives from olive trees, and these then undergo the rinsing step, where they are placed on a conveyor belt and rinsed with cold water to remove all the dirt and impurities. Next, these olives are smashed using a machine, which also gets rid of all the olive stones. Follow this, these smashed olives are placed on an olive paste – a bag with holes – that get stacked on one another to prepare them for the next stage.
Here, these olive pastes are pressed with the use of machinery, after which another machine separates pure oil from water. This oil is then bottled, being ready to be stored and sold.
