Overall, although the figure for FedEx initially ranked first in parcel deliveries, it was soon over taken by TNT which gradually rose over time. Moreover, the number of deliveries by the companies over lapped in 1985 by delivering the same amount of parcels.The FedEx company deliveries increased dramatically starting in 1920, followed by its highest peak in 1940. The figure leveled off shortly after it abruptly plummeted in the next five years. Later, there was a steady increase until it remained almost the same until 2000.

The TNT mail service company figure steadily increased over the first 40 years. Afterward, it experienced a noticeable jump in 1960 when it hit almost the same number ofparcel deliveries made by the other company. It remained the same for the following years but suddenly doubled its deliveries in the year 1995. Finally, the figure also noticeably grew rightafter.
