The line graph provided illustrates how many parcels were delivered by two cargo companies, namely Federal Express and TNT Mail Services, over nearly a century between 1920 and 2000.
Overall, the figures experienced substantial fluctuations for FedEx deliveries over decades while TNT’s deliveries followed a relatively steady upward trend. Furthermore, the number of parcels for Federal Express stood initially higher, they were surpassed by TNT’s deliveries toward the end of the period.
In the beginning of period, the parcels by FedEx were delivered stood at 1500 parcels, which were nearly three times as high as the parcels by TNT Mail Services. The following two decades, the deliveries by Federal Express were soared and peaking at just below 25000 in 1940. Afterwards, the deliveries suddenly plunged at roughly 12500 in the following decade and the value levelling off until 1960. Meanwhile, TNT’s deliveries saw the same value as FedEx deliveries in 1960.
In the second half of the period, the deliveries by FedEx experienced another substantial increase for two decades only to remain relatively stable at about 18000 parcels until the end of the period. Meanwhile, the figures for TNT Mail Services relatively maintained their level until 1980, after which they surged, first overtaking the figures for FedEx in 1990s and then peaking at almost 25000 parcels in 2000.
