The diagram gives data on how plastic and glass containers are reused.
Overall, it is observed that both the glass and the plastic containers pass through eight cycles starting from the acquisition of the new or none recycled products to how they are reshaped or moulded into a whole new or recycled product.
At the initial stage of the process, the used plastics and glasses are gathered within three to eight weeks. They are therefore transported in a vehicle to the recycling center for sorting. The glasses are sorted out by colour while the plastics are grouped by its thickness and quality, which usually lasts for about five to ten days.
Additionally, the glasses are then sent to the crushing site where they are ground into powder whereas the plastics are sent to the bundling site where they are baled. The powdered content of the glasses are then washed thoroughly and dried ready to be sent out to the melting area. After packing the plastics into bundles, whilst the glasses are being cleaned, the plastics are rather shredded into smaller pieces. The glasses are then melted into a liquid by an intense blazing fire to make it easier for reshaping. The molten content of a glass is then mounded into reconfigured forms and dimensions. On the other hand, the grated plastics are washed, melted into a liquid where the liquified material of the plastics are flexed into different shapes and sizes.
