The diagram gives information about the breakdown of steps that is taken to turn carbon dioxide into a biofuel-ethanol.
Overall, the entire process contains three major phases, including the absorbability of energy from plants and trees, the treatment of its in multiple ways ,such as physical, chemical and biological ways and the final production.Ethanol is used as an alternative to fossil fuels to reduce pollution.
To begin with, growth of trees and plants neccessitate energy, including absorbing sunlight and carbon dioxide.A process called photosynthesis helps convert these two ingredients into energy. As they become mature, people collect them by using designated machinery before entering the multiple steps that turn it into the final form. The harvested product will undergo a pre-processing process, which breaks them down into strands of cellulose by crushing. After that, the cellulose strands with the help of chemicals are deconstructed into different sugars molecules.
After the aforementioned physical and chemical treatment steps, these sugar molecules are then biologically processed.Microbes are added to convert sugar into ethanol, which in turn is used as a fuel to power vehicles with combustion engines such as cars, trucks ,planes. These vehicles burn up ethanol, releasing carbon dioxide as a waste into the atmosphere. The trees and plants,in turn, consume this as their food, and the cycle restarts
