The diagram illustrates 9 stages in the process of produced sugar from sugar beets.
Overall, the production of sugar from sugar beets begins with the cleaning of the raw beets and involves a series of mechanical and chemical stages. To do this process, water, a filter, a container, a washing machine, and a centrifuge are needed.
At the beginning of the process, they wash the beets using a washer to remove dirt and rocks. Then, the clean beets are sliced into small pieces known as cossettes. In the next stage, the cossettes are boiled in 70 degree water to separate the juice and sugar. After this process, milk of lime is added bottle. At the seventh stage in the process, these substances are passed through a filter to be cleaned. In the final phase, heated many times to evaporate water for obtain pure sugar juice. Then, the sugar is centrifuged to obtain the product, and sugar is obtained in crystalline form.
