The chart illustrates the process of producing wool for human or industrial purposes.
Overall, there are several steps to make a wool production, beginning with shearing sheep to pre-processing stages and ending with the using of consumers.
Regarding the pre-processing steps, the sheep are nurtured until it’s time for shearing, often in the spring or early summer. After that, their wool is taken to the next stage. They are scoured by a special machine, then dried in the drier. Next, dry wool is separated into strings and tufts of wool, while the strings are recycled, the tufts of wool are brought to the tuft storage.
In the manufacturing phase, these tufts are going to be dyed in different colors before spun into yarn. The spinning stage yields balls of wool that can be knitted into fabric, and also can be the material provided for the textile industry, such as producing carpets and jackets.
