The given illustration depicts the female mosquito’s life cycle.
Overall, lifecycle of mosquito, which spans a total of 6 to 8 weeks, consists of four main stages. It begins with the laying of eggs and progresses through larva stages, a pupal stage, and finally becomes a fully grown mosquito.
The cycle commences with eggs which are laid by the female mosquito in the first week. Then, these eggs are develop into the first larva stage by week 2. Consequently, this larva grows and undergoes transformation through three more larva stages, namely second, third, and fourth larval stages, in weeks 3,4, and 5 respectively.
By week 6, larva enters the pupal stage, in which significant changes occur in its appearance as the insect prepares for adulthood. Finally, the adult mosquito develops/ emerges in the 7th or 8th week, marking the completion of the cycle. Subsequently, after reaching the adulthood, the life of the female mosquito ends and the cycle repeats.
