The two maps illustrate the current biomedical campus and the proposed development for the biomedical campus of a university.
Overall, it is evident that the biomedical campus will undergo a significant renovation. The main change including the removal of green areas to refurbish to construction of research facilities and the expansion of parking areas.
In the North section, above the main road, the trees areas will be cut down to construct two buildings, namely ‘Bio – imaging’ and ‘Genetics 1’. Besides, the former car park will be used by students only, leading to an extra parking area for staff, which will be located in the left corner of the bottom. Notably, the main road running through the centre today will be situated around the campus and the walkway will be expanded and remained at the original place as today.
Moving on to the South section, the landscape will be separated to two areas by the walkway at the center. To the west of the walkway, the trees will be cleared to extend the biochemistry building, whereas no changes will be made to the position of the lab. On the opposite side, the biotech building is planned to be expanded, while the genetics building will be widened and renamed as Genetics 2 building. Furthermore, the lab will stay in the same location as it is now
