The diagram illustrates the existing layout of university’s biomedical campus and its proposed redevelopment.
Overall, the campus is planned to undergo a substantial expansion, with several research facilities added and the internal layout reorganized to improve accessibility. While the main road and the main car park will be largely retained, most green spaces will be replaced by academic buildings.
At present, the campus is arranged around a road running horizontally across the sites, intersected by a central road that leads to walkway. In the upper section, a large landscaped space with many trees is located beside a car park. The lower section accommodated several research buildings positioned along both sides of the walkway. Specifically, the biochemistry building lies on the left side, while the gene-tics and biotech buildings are located on the opposite side. Two laboratory buildings are also situated near the upper edges of this area.
Under the proposed plan, most of the landscaped area in the upper section will be redeveloped by a gene-tics 1 and bio-imaging, while the main car park will be remained unchanged. The central road will be removed and replaced by a new road looping around most of the campus. The lower-left area, a diagonal road to link a new staff car park directly to the main road. Additionally, a second genetics building will be added, and the biotech facility will be expanded into two connected blocks. Biochemistry will be reorganized diagonally between the walkway and the main road, while two laboratory will be remained unaltered.
