The diagram indicates how many millions of tones of goods were transported in the UK from 1974 to 2002. Modes of transport considered are four: roads, water, rails and pipelines.
In 1974 the best way to carry products was by roads, while the lowest transports used were the ones by pipelines. Water and railways were quite stable to the same quantities, however throughout the years to 2002 water transports grew of more than twenty millions tones, whereas rails carrying decresed.In 2002 they came back to the same quantities of the same year.
Except for rails, every modes of transport examined easily rise of almost twenty millions tones.
To sum up, during the twenty-eight years shown in the graph, by far the best transport method remain the one by roads, following by the one by water and after that rail carrying and pipeline, The only mode that didn’t grow was by rail.
