The diagram describes how pineapples are grown and processed into different products.
Overall, the process comprises both natural and man-made elements. There are two major stages, involving farming and processing, whose results are pineapples and goods made by them.
Regarding the cultivation stage, pineapples are grown in the field, with their crowns spaced 26cm each one from others, within the weather temperature ranges from 23 to 30 degree Celsius. After about 7 months, ethylene is sprayed on the mature plants. Having waited for a period of additional 5 months, those pineapples which meet the criteria of 30 centimeters high and 2 kilograms in weight will be harvested.
The remaining steps result in the production of goods made from pineapple and the transportation abroad of raw pineapples. The process continues with harvested pineapples being washed and graded according to their sizes. Basically, the smallest and medium-sized have their tops removed and their rinds peeled. Consequently, the former will be put into an extractor in order to produce juice, while the latter are cut into small pieces before being canned. Meanwhile, the largest pineapples are just coated in wax and placed in crates, being ready for exportation.
