The diagram illustrates the present and future water supply plan in Australia.
Overall, water is stored in a dam or storage and it is sent to households, shops, factories, and the city. Based on the water type, the water is sent to plant for disinfection or the river. This might change in the future as all kinds of water might be treated in a plant rather than sending the storm water into the river.
At present, the water which is held in storage is signalled to various localities such as shops, households, factories and the city. The storm water which is collected in the city is directly transported into the river without any further processing. In contrast, the waste water gathered from various parts is sent to water treatment plant followed by the river.
The plan for the future water supply system is that both the storm water and waste water is transferred to the water treatment plant which purifies the water and is sent back to the city.
