The diagrams describe the current and proposed plans for supplying water in Australia.
Overall, recycling and reusing waste water are planned. The storm water, which is spilled into the river, is also proposed to be collected and then filtered for reuse.
In the current water supply system, pure water is stored in a dam or storage and then transferred to the city to be used by households, factories, and shops. Afterwards, the waste water that is generated is treated in a water treatment plant and then discharged safely into the river. The storm water that gets collected in the city is carried towards the river and then drained into it.
The proposed plan ensures that the supply of pure water from the dam or storage to the city remains the same. However, the waste water and storm water that is currently not used will be recycled in the water treatment plant and then reused in the city. It is planned that no water will be released into the river.
